The first real skateboard I got after my Nash Nightmare was an Alva Bill Danforth. I didn’t really notice back then that he pushed off mongo and that was my preferred method of pushing too. It’s wierd because I still can push harder mongo than I can the regular way. I skate goofy footed too. I skated mongo for the 7 years I skated in the 80s. In 2004 when I started skateboarding again after 12 years off, I noticed other skaters made a big deal out of mongo pushing….so I decided I would try to learn to push the regular way. After I went on a snowboarding trip where I was forced to push normal…the snowboarding actually helped me to learn how to push normal on a skateboard and now I do both, I usually push the normal way but every once in awhile I will push mongo….It’s a wierd mix now! š Anyhow, check out this 80s video of Bill Danforth in an instrucional video. This video has got to be one of the corniest videos I’ve seen and in the 80s, there were lots of corny skate videos out there! I do enjoy watching these old tricks though because some of them are staples of mine. But this video just cracks me up, just watch the intro by Bill Danforth….OMG…I couldn’t believe it myself as I watched it. Street Survival, that is what it is all about! HA! LOL! š I wonder how much he got paid to make this video. Wow, and the soundtrack…..skate videos sure have changed! š
